Here's an example:

I actually googled the words because my son's birthday is coming up in a few weeks (he's turning 8, already!) and the theme will be "knights". Usually by this time I have finished most of the party preparations , but this year I've been so busy with other things that I just kept postponing all the things that need to be done. Contrary to previous years I won't be sewing any costumes for the kids, but I thought I might have them decorate a shield cut from cardboard and maybe a cardboard sword as well. That should get them in a medieval mood.
And although a cake like this:

would be absolute perfect, we've learned from experience that waffles or pancakes are more appreciated by kids.
I'm still on the lookout for some fun party games that could be incorporated into a 'knight party', so if you have any ideas, please don't hesitate to share them!

Those cakes are amazing.
A knight party for an eight year old sounds perfect. I wish I could give you some tips for party games around this theme, but unfortunately I don't know any. Can you modify existing games to have a knight theme - for example Pin the sword on the knight, a sword piniata etc- I'm not sure if these ideas are too babyish. I'm obviously out of touch with the world of eight year olds.
I'll put my thinking hat on and try and come up with something suitable.
^^^e has a great idea with the piniata... maybe a dragon one and the kids slay it with their swords!!! here's a link that may also be helpful: CLICK HERE

Hi! I saw your blog on E and T, and thought I'd stop by. Your children are adorable.
I'm absolutely amazed at those cakes! What a lot of work. Sounds like you will have fun with your knight party...what a blast!
I do like E and T's idea of modifying existing games, but that may be a little too uncreative as well. I have not reached the 8 year old stage yet, but I'll try to come up with some game ideas.
thanks for the fun read. I'll stop in again!
