The first day of September traditionally also means the first day of school here in Belgium. So off they went this morning with their new lunch boxes and backpacks. I added a sweet little personalised touch, did you notice? My son has one of the Beary Special keychains with his initial on it and a very BIG school bag.
I hope they both have a great year. The first day seems to have been fun.
Robin's books now all have Spiderman covers and the lunchboxes have been washed, all ready to be used again. Another year that will fly by has just begun.
When I was a kid I used to secretely check my school bag and the new items my mom had bought for us. I remember she kept them stored on top of her wardrobe closet, so we wouldn't touch any of it until the first day of September. I remember a drawstring bag with navy blue/white stripes for when we went swimming. My sister had the same in red (I actually liked hers better). I could look at it for hours.
I can look at my kids for hours too...
Modeling my hat. I should probably let her have it. I've only worn it once and she looks so much better in it than I do.
OK, that's it for the first day of school. I'm off to bed now... after I've had a peek at my sleeping kids.

Mine go back on Thursday, it has just flown by so quickly. We are all ready, new bags, new shoes, new uniform. I am glad that their first day has gone well.

New school supplies was something I also loved and cherished. I remember that feeling of starting each year (in Australia our school year starts at the end of January)with everything brand new and folders filled with fresh, new paper.
I hope that your beautiful children have a fantastic year, one where they look back on it with fond memories.

There is such a first day of school in the air at the moment, autumn has arrived early here in the UK, yesterday I had to pack up my summer clothes and hunt out my scarves and woolly hats.
She looks so darling! She is a natural at the modeling thing!
