Belated Birthday

Exactly one month ago, my daughter turned 6! So here's a special post for my little girl.

She wore her Snow White costume (a gift from when we went to Disneyland) at the party and of course she looked simply gorgeous in it!

Every girl got her make-up done except for the one boy who was invited. When I asked him what he wanted to be (a pirate, a prince or a lion perhaps) he surprised me by saying... a ladybug! He turned out to be quite a cute ladybug!

There were songs so be sung and cupcakes to be eaten... everybody had a lot of fun.

My little girl, I know your birthday was a day of mixed emotions. Your grandfather died the day before you turned six and your party was the day after the funeral. Still, he would not have had it any other way. Birthdays are to be celebrated, so we celebrated life. 6 wonderful years.

Strike

The postmen have been on a strike for the past three days. It's weird waking up and coming home to an empty mailbox, for there is no paper in the morning and no mail (or bills!) by the time we come home.

The strike is supposed to end this evening. I wonder how many bills there will be tomorrow.

Update

It seems like such a long time ago already that I left a few clues for you, promising an update on where we had been at a later time. I've been absent from blogland for a while and I feel I've missed it. So, as promised, here's an update:

It wasn't Spain or Holland, nor anywhere further up north. Actually it was only a 2.5 hrs drive from where we live... it's a magical place that is sure to put a smile on the face of children (and we happen to like it too :)

Yes, we went to Disneyland Paris!

This wheel is actually part of the Swiss family Robinson tree house (I just saw your post Dani, perhaps it rings a bell now?). It was covered in ice and absolutely beautiful to look at. It did get awfully cold when we got to the top of the tree house. I guess the Robinsons never had any trouble with that.

We've been to Disneyland 3 times now. Twice in January and once in May. January is cold, but the queues aren't long and staying at a hotel is affordable. In May the weather was really nice but the park was verrrry busy!

My father in law passed away yesterday, surrounded by his wife and children. He was 72.

Our little princess turns 6 today.

We'll make it a special day.

Thanks to all who have kept our family in their thoughts and prayers.

Blogging break

The update I promised will have to wait since I will be taking a blogging break.

I prefer not to go into details, but my father in law is in the hospital and he won't be waking up anymore. It is just a matter of time...

This is a hard time for our family, especially for K., so please keep us in your thoughts.
