September

I've always loved the word "September". I used to write poetry (which no one was allowed to read of course) and then signed it with my alias September. It's the prelude to Fall, it makes me want to buy hats and scarves for the entire family, it makes me want to go out and buy wool and start knitting... even though I limit myself to scarves. They're easy.

Half of September has almost passed.

It's weird how time seems to go faster when you are back to the old school routine.

But no matter how busy these first few days of school have been, we did have time for a little bit of play (I picked up a chess board for the ridiculously low price of 75 cents, but of course it didn't come with any pawns. When I got home my son quickly set up the game using his toys.)

Purely by coincidence of course, but he put the lion next to the lamb. Made me want to read Twilight all over again*.

And there was even time for some crafting. The below sketch was drawn entirely by my 6 year old daughter. Her first tutorial! And I think mommy did a pretty good job at creating this "Christmas Mushroom".

She made plenty more tutorials. I think I'm going to work out some of the others she made. That might get some fresh items into my much neglected Etsy shop ;)
