Last night we switched over to daylight saving time or wintertime as we call it which means we get an extra hour of sleep. In theory.
The kids however cannot be fooled by our clock doing a backward flip and wake up at their normal hour: around 6.30 am. Caitlin woke up first and we were able to persuade her to 'rest' (not 'sleep', of course, no, no) a little in our bed. Robin however woke up about 5 minutes later. He has an alarmclock in his room and has been told time and time again that he should not get out of bed before 6.30 am. Which he didn't. Because his parents forgot to adjust his alarm clock to wintertime...
We heard him going down the stairs and we whispered loudly that he should get back to bed.
Robin: "But it's 6.30."
Forgetful Parents: "But it's wintertime now."
Caitlin: "Does this mean it's snowing outside?"
A smile, a sigh and an early morning. For the rest of the family. I'm the lucky one, I was fortunate enough to stay in bed a little longer. Thanks to my sweet husband who gets up early 99% of the time.

I'm looking forward to setting our clocks back in a few weeks! Hopefully I'll get an extra hour of sleep, but I think my daughter will be up at the usual time! :)
My boys are the same, they get up at 6am, both summer and wintertime!
We had the ceremonial changing of all the clocks here too!!
My children were up early too ~ so I had no choice but to get up ahhhhh!!
Wintertime is here now ~ dark mornings, dark nights!!!

I'm looking forward to the time adjustment...but I don't think the kiddos are going to care.
I hope yours adjust quickly.
I'm surprised to see how many people look forward to the "wintertime" time change. Our's will change next week, I believe, and it is so sad for me to lose an hour of sunshine in the evenings.
You are so lucky- what a gift from your hubby!
I love your new christmas decorations- they remind me of the ones I grew up with.
Hi Tania
I can't even imagine being cold, as I have just been outside with Sav and it is soooooo hot here today. We are gearing up for what feels like a very hot and humid Aussie summer. I much prefer the winter - hot chocolates with marshmallows, snuggling up under blankets, wearing soft fluffy jumpers - I could go on and on.
I'm lucky like you, as Troy is usually the first one to get up with Blake, while Sav and I catch an extra hour or so of sleep - what a gift it is to get some extra sleep.
I think it is beautiful that Robin got teary during that song from High School Musical. I hope that Blake always expresses his feelings as well. It shows that your son has a compassionate nature and he is obviously empathetic, very admirable qualities.
Lots of love and hugs
Elise.
