The One with the Christmas Card

I thought I found the perfect Christmas card...

Cute isn't it?

But when I opened the box at home I noticed that there was not much room to write anything on said perfect Christmas card. But I could live with that. What I couldn't live with was when I took said perfect Christmas card to the post office and learned that it was "not a regular size". The kind lady behind the counter informed me that I would have to pay three times as much! Sorry, perfect Christmas card, but for that price I could have sent a nice scarf...

Of course there had to be a creative way to ensure that I could still send out my perfect Christmas card, but at the regular price. So, here's where I need your help. If you are one of the lucky few ;) to receive the perfect Christmas card then please tape the side that I cut open back together. You can put a glas and a small candle inside it afterwards... and still enjoy it.

I have also been making a few custom toiletry bags for some friends and have decided that I will also put them in my Etsy shop. They measure 30 cm x 18 cm (so they are big enough to hold an electrical toothbrush) and can be personalised with the name of your choice (price will be 23 USD - fabric also available in red stripes with coordinating lining).

Looking at the future

I'm not sure what the future will bring.

Not for me, not for my family.

Though I worry about too many things too much of the time, I still have, somewhere deep inside, a feeling that things will work out eventually. Maybe not everything will go as I hoped or as I had planned, but it will be fine nevertheless.

So even if this little girl would try out the Gothic look when she's older...

(Or in this case: a TV-watching zombie who has just eaten blue M&M's)

She'll still be my little girl.

Got to give it to her: she could definitely pull off the look !

Proud Mama

My 6 year old daughter made a drawing inspired by this:

(Belle & Boo)

I thought she did so well that I scanned it before she handed it over to her ballet teacher and then I emailed it to Mandy from Belle & Boo.

The ever so kind Mandy from Belle & Boo replied to Caitlin and me that she loved the drawing and that she would even put it up on her blog!

Mandy is currently spending her days in Australia, enjoying a lot more sunshine than we are getting here. She will even spend Christmas down under and although it must be a great experience to celebrate Christmas and New Year there, wearing a summer dress and enjoying an outdoor BBQ, I still think she might miss wearing a hat and scarf, warming up her fingers by wearing wool mittens and snuggling up on the couch with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate... a typical winter scene back here. So I sent her Caitlin's drawing so she could have the best of both worlds. Snow in the midst of summer.

Thank you Mandy: Caitlin was so happy when I showed her, I wish you could have seen her face! I hope you will have a wonderful Christmas in Oz!

Sometimes

Sometimes you have to stop and wonder.

Sometimes you have to stand still and appreciate the beauty that is life.

Sometimes you have to jump into the unknown,

First attempt

at amigurumi

Amigurumi @ Wikipedia: the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures.

Learned the basics from a youtube video and then kinda did my own thing. Ended up with this:

Not too bad for a first attempt!

I will have to get some more yarn though, since otherwise I'd have to limit myself to knitting green things only... ;)
